| Social Events February 4th
With winter in full swing, we figured it was high time to bring a little bit of ski country to Manhattan and gather some good Canadian (and non-Canadian) friends to enjoy warm conversation and refreshing libation on a cold winter’s night. We have reserved private space for our hearty Canadian crew for a Canadian Lodge Night on Wednesday, February 4th from 7:00-11:00pm at Black Bear Lodge (274 Third Avenue between 21st and 22nd Streets). Admission is free, but it is cash bar only for our group. Space is limited, so please RSVP in advance to Daniel Ages (dages@canadianassociationny.org).
February 14th
In conjunction with our annual charitable Invitational Hockey Tournament, CANY invites everyone to join in the post-game social on Saturday, February 14th at 7:00pm at Van Diemens Cafe and Bar (383 Third Avenue btw 27th and 28th Streets). There will be Hockey Night In Canada on the televisions, cold refreshments on tap, and the tournament players will likely be sharing stories as though they were Messier and Lemieux themselves. Owned and operated by some friendly Canadians, Van Diemens offers a fun atmosphere in Murray Hill. We will have the upper portion to ourselves until we spill out onto the main floor too. February 14th & 15th The Canadian Association of New York is happy to announce the launch of our 3rd annual Canadian invitational hockey tournament. We invite you to participate in this great event, with net proceeds supporting one of our favorite charities, Ice Hockey in Harlem. The Canadian Invitational Hockey Tournament is open to players of all levels and encourages participation rather than competition. The tournament furthers the ties between Canadians and New Yorkers with half the teams visiting from Canada. This is a great opportunity to put together a corporate team or just gather a group of friends. If you are an individual wanting to play, we’ll find a team for you! The round robin is on Saturday February 14th with playoff and all-star games on Sunday the 15th. Everyone is welcome to come watch and cheer the teams on as well. Additionally, a social event will be planned for the Saturday evening to celebrate both the games and possibly your significant other… We hope you’ll join us either to participate with an organized team or just to enjoy watching the tournament in one of the world’s most beautiful parks. February 20th to 22nd
