This famous Scottish artist who lived most of his life in Canada, was best known for his paintings of the maritime coastline and sea of which this is an excellent example.

About the artist: Born in Banff, Scotland in 1861; moved to Canada in 1890; lived in Montreal and St. Stephen, New Brunswick; died in 1933. President R.C.A. from 1922-1926.
