A native of Saskatchewan, George Tinning painted a subject truly representative of this great plains province.

About the artist: Known for his watercolours as well as for mural painting and decoration, Tinning was born in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan in 1910 and died in Montreal, Quebec in 1996. Member of the Black Watch in 1942; served with Fifth Canadian Armoured Division, Saskatchewan. Paintings in collections in Regina Library, Canadian National Railways, Royal Bank of Canada, Canadian Bank of Commerce. Received Jessie Dow Prize. Painted Newfoundland series for Ford Motors Collection. Exhibited in New York, London and Amsterdam and Canada.
